Mariana Villegas (Sinaloa, 1986). She carried out her acting studies at CasAzul from 2004 to 2007. Breaking the Waves (Se rompen las olas) was her first project as an actress, director and author with production and artistic assistance from Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol. The play has been shown at the Festival Santiago a Mil in Santiago, Chile; VIE Festival in Módena, Italy; Radar L.A. in Los Angeles; Teatro a una sola voz in Mexico; Heidelberg Stückemarkt in Germany; amongst others. This Body of Mine (Este cuerpo mío) was her second project, a co-production of Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol, Teatro Línea de Sombra and Münchner Kammerspiele. The play debuted at the Festival Endstation Sehnsucht in Munich and it has been showcased at HAU Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin and at the Festival Temporada Alta in Lima, Peru. She has acted in several other plays such as Ensayo sobre la melancolía by Alberto Villarreal, El último arrecife en tercera dimensión and Nada siempre, todo nunca with Colectivo Macramé, Los habladores by David Olguín, and La flauta mágica / Die zauberflöte directed by Antú Romero Nunes and showed at the Festivals Santiago a Mil in Santiago, Chile and Theater und Orchester Heidelberg in Germany. She was invited as an actress and director to the project Olympia 2666 in the Münchner Kammerspiele in Munich. She participated in the piece Graduación by Dalia Taha under the direction of Laura Uribe for the Gorki Theater in Berlin. She has participated in dance projects and shorts and as well as full-length films. She has been a member of the theatre collective Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol since 2007.
